National Juried Competition to Include Works of Four ULM Artists
The Thirty-third Annual National Juried Competition at the Masur Museum of Art in Monroe will include the studio works of four artists associated with the Division of Art at the University of Louisiana at Monroe.
Senior ceramics major Kelly Fuller from Natchez, MS, faculty member Robert G. Ward, and alumni Sarah Davidson and Adam Davenport, both residents of Monroe, had works accepted into this exhibition.
Artists residing in the United States were eligible to submit in competition up to five works to be jurored by New York painter Henry Finkelstein. From a field of 413 works by 142 American artists, Finkelstein curated an exhibition of 88 works by 74 artists.
Of three original prints accepted in the show, two were by Kelly Fuller - a still life achromatic etching titled "Flowers" and a landscape achromatic lithograph titled "Rain Clouds and Fence Posts." Professor of Painting Robert G. Ward will represent ULM with a landscape acrylic on canvas painting titled "Chromatic Pulsations." Painting graduate Adam Davenport ('00) is showing a figurative oil on linen painting titled "Boat Rescue" and a self-portrait charcoal drawing titled "Three Dog Night," while painting graduate Sarah Davidson ('02) is displaying an urban landscape oil on canvas painting titled "Ledge.”
This exhibition will open to the public on March 12. The Masur Museum of Art is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesdays through Thursdays and 2-5 p.m. on Fridays though Sundays.
