ULM Dean Inducted into Hall of Fame at Fifth Annual Nightingale Awards Program
Dr. Jan Corder, interim dean of the College of Health Sciences at the University of Louisiana at Monroe, was inducted into the Hall of Fame during the Louisiana Nurses Foundation Fifth Annual Nightingale Awards Program.
The Nightingale Awards Program is a time when the nursing profession honors its own. The program is considered the “academy awards” of quality service, commitment and excellence for registered nurses in the state of Louisiana. The emcee of the event this year was Rep. Sydnie Mae Durand.
The prestigious award received by Corder recognizes a registered nurse (RN)’s lifelong commitment to the profession of nursing and impact on the health and/or social history of the state of Louisiana. Up to three nurses may be inducted per year.
Award criteria are: preparation in a formal nursing program; demonstrated leadership which has affected the state’s health and/or social history; a lifelong contribution to nursing practice, education, administration, research, economics, or literature; enduring achievement having value beyond the nominee’s lifetime; significant length of time in the profession; and participation in professional organizations including LSNA/ANA.
