Weatherbie given three-year contract extension
ULM football head coach Charlie Weatherbie has agreed in principle to a three-year contract extension. The agreement will be through the 2009 season and is pending approval by the ULM Athletic Foundation Board of Directors and the University of Louisiana System Board of Supervisors.
"I'm very excited about the agreement to a three-year extension," said Weatherbie.
Weatherbie is in his fourth season as the head coach at ULM. Last season, the Warhawks won the 2005 Sun Belt Conference title and had 10 players named to the all-conference team, including Sun Belt Player of the Year Steven Jyles.
"We were delighted to reach an agreement," said ULM director of athletics Bobby Staub. "Now we can look forward to kicking off our season on Thursday."
The Warhawks open the 2006 season on Thursday, Aug. 31 against Alcorn State.
Game time at Malone Stadium is 7 p.m.
