KEDM general manger says goodbye to ULM
Effective June 6, ULM staff member Mark Simmons will resign his general manager position at KEDM 90.3 FM, the public radio station housed at the university.
After serving ULM for 13 years, Simmons will assume the position of music director for Radio Kansas.
"I have been honored to participate in a partnership with Northeast Louisiana's arts organizations, ULM, and the many, many listeners and supporters of music, arts, education, and culture that have made KEDM Public Radio a success," said Simmons.
"Together we've seen KEDM grow to an award-winning, full-time station that frequently out-performs other public stations in larger markets. I take many fond memories of the people and this place with me, and I wish KEDM and ULM the best as both are poised for the challenges and opportunities to come."
KEDM has benefited from Simmons' leadership, said Bette Kauffman, head of the Department of Communication.
"We appreciate KEDM's growth and development under [Mark's] leadership and wish him the best as he takes advantage of this great opportunity," she said.
Currently, the Department of Communication is organizing a search committee to replace Simmons. The committee will pursue a national search among other avenues.
KEDM began serving the Northeast Louisiana and Southern Arkansas area on April 23, 1991. KEDM reaches 10+ parishes in Northeast Louisiana and 3+ counties in Southern Arkansas. KEDM broadcasts a line-up of in-depth news, classical music, and jazz, along with special entertainment programs 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
