ULM Speech & Debate Team earns national recognition - again
After finishing in the top five last year, the ULM Speech and Debate Team once again garnered national attention.
This year, the team earned 121 regular season awards, including 27 individual championships. In the national speech championships, held at the University of Florida March 31-April 3, ULMĀ¹s team was the first in Louisiana to have two students finish in the top 20. Mass communications junior Marcus Beckwith finished seventh in Dramatic Interpretation and mass communications senior Isaac Henderson finished thirteenth in Oral Interpretation.
In the national debate competition, hosted at ULM April 7-9, ULM advanced two students to the top 20. Sociology senior Ankita Patel finished ninth in the varsity division and mass communications junior Amy Wilson finished in the novice division of the International Public Debate Association.
