College Health Awareness Day May 3
The College of Health Sciences, ULM Clinical Laboratory Science (CLS) Student Society, and Beta Delta Chapter of Lambda Tau will host the annual Health Awareness Day Wednesday, May 3 in the foyer and hallway of the Nursing Building, beginning at 7 a.m.
The event showcases the many services offered on campus that provide health information and screenings to ULM faculty, staff and students.
The following services will be available:
- CLSC Health Screening
- In celebration of National Medical Laboratory Professionals Week, the Beta Delta Chapter of Lambda Tau and the ULM Student CLS Society will offer a health screening to ULM employees and students at a minimum charge. The generated funds will be used to send students to the Louisiana Society of Clinical Laboratory Science annual meeting and to support various scholarships for the CLS program. This screening will be in the Nursing Building foyer, and refreshments will be served.
- Tests Offered:
- Cholesterol $7
- HDL-Cholesterol $7
- Blood Count $7
- Glucose $7
- All Tests $20
Participants are advised not to eat or drink anything prior to having the necessary blood drawn, as eating and drinking produce invalid results.
Refreshments will be provided for persons who request them.
Cancer Research Center
The Cancer Research Center will provide PSA screening for all males who desire to have this test performed. There is no cost associated with testingā¹St. Francis Medical Center will invoice the Cancer Research Center.
A physician order is not needed for this test.
Communicative Disorders
The Department of Communicative Disorders invites all ULM employees and students to have their hearing screened at no charge.
Dental Hygiene
The Department of Dental Hygiene invites all ULM employees and students to receive a free gingivitis screening.
