VAPA's President's Gala Features "Variety Headliners"
ULM's School of Visual and Performing
Arts (VAPA) has an artistic gift for everyone in the form of
the President's Gala. The Gala occurs on Tuesday, October 4 at
Emy-Lou Biedenharn Recital Hall and will include instrumental
and vocal music, a ballroom dance exhibition and comedy skits
by ULM faculty and students.
Titled "Variety Headliners," the black-tie optional
evening begins with aperitifs from 6:30-7:30 p.m. in the new
Sculpture Garden, and then the show begins. Afterwards, Gala
patrons will enjoy a reception. The program will last approximately
one hour and free valet parking will be available.
This is the third year for VAPA's primary fundraiser. Proceeds
aid the students with everything from equipment to scholarships
to travel funds allowing them to enter competitions.
"We do as much as we can to raise the funds with arts,"
Keith White, VAPA Director, said. "It's an exciting time
for the arts, the university population and the community in
general. Everyone pulls together to make this event successful,
and people really seem to enjoy it."
Admission is $50 per person, and tickets are available now by
calling (318) 342-1010. Visit VAPA's website at http://www.ulm.edu/vapa
for information on the President's Gala and further cultural
delights at ULM.
