Ground Breaking for Monroe-ULM Welcome Sign
The Monroe Garden Club and the Monroe Chamber are hosting
a ground breaking for the Monroe-ULM welcome sign at the Garrett
Road/I-20 westward intersection on Monday, May 9 at 10 a.m.
Each year, the Monroe Garden Club president selects a project.
This year's president, Ellen Allum, chose the welcome sign for
the club to focus its efforts on.
Other contributors to the Welcome to
Monroe sign include: Arkansas Stone, Breck Construction, CenturyTel,
the City of Monroe Public Works, Entergy, FedEx, Kinkos, the
Forsythe Avenue Beautification group, Harrison and Associates,
Inc., Roach Landscape, Space Planners Architects, Inc., Steel
Fabricators and the ULM Foundation.
The project proceeds with the assistance of City of Monroe Mayor
Jamie Mayo. The City of Monroe Police Department will aid with
directing traffic flow. Kirk Gallien of the Louisiana Department
of Transportation and Development (DOTD) also gave advice and
direction to the project.
