Pulitzer Prize Winner to Speak at Presidential Lyceum Series

Pulitzer Prize winner Doris Kearns Goodwin will speak at the Dr. James E. Cofer, Sr. Presidential Lyceum Series on March 14 at 7 p.m. at ULM.

Held at Brown Auditorium and expected to last until 8:30 p.m., the event showcases the historian and her insight into past, present and possible future historical perspectives.

Doris Kearns Goodwin won the Pulitzer Prize for "No Ordinary Time: Franklin and Eleanor Roosevelt." Currently at work on a biography on Abraham Lincoln - which Steven Spielberg plans to make into a movie - Goodwin understands the historical significance of today's current events. As well, she penned a memoir, "Wait Till Next Year, about a love of baseball she shared with her father. Audiences learn not only about today's political headlines, but how history will interpret them.

As regular commentator on "Hardball" with Chris Matthews and Meet the Press and a contributor, both on and off the air, to the PBS documentaries "LBJ, The Kennedy's, FDR and Baseball," Goodwin offers historical perspective on political, media and current events.

There will be a Patron Party following the presentation at the ULM Library, 7th floor, beginning at 8:30.

Performance and Patron Party tickets are $50 each.

Students, faculty and staff get in free with their ULM ID (but must call the Indian Bank to reserve their ticket) and have the opportunity to buy additional tickets at $10.
