Berry Named Dean for the College of Business Administration at ULM
Dr. Ron Berry has been named Dean for the College of Business
Administration at the University of Louisiana at Monroe. Berry's
appointment was the result of a national search conducted by
a committee comprised of faculty, students, and regional business
leaders. He has served as Interim Dean for the College since
August, 2004.
Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs, Dr. Stephen
Richters said Berry was the best choice. "Dr. Berry is highly
respected both in the College of Business Administration and
in the wider university community," said Richters. "He
has proven himself to be an effective teacher, a productive scholar,
and a skillful administrator. Dr. Berry's superior leadership
and management skills will be of tremendous benefit to the college."
Berry received his doctorate in Management Information Systems from Mississippi State University and joined the ULM faculty in 1995. He was named Head of the Department of Computer Information Systems in 2000, and served in that capacity until 2004 when he was named Interim Dean of the College of Business Administration. He was recognized by the ULM Alumni Association as the Outstanding Professor in the College of Business in 2002 and as the Beta Gamma Sigma Outstanding Professor in Business in 2004.
"It is truly an honor to be selected as the Dean of the College of Business Administration," Berry said. "I have thoroughly enjoyed working closely with faculty, students, the business community and the University administration during the past seven months as Interim Dean. I am excited about the opportunity to continue our efforts to move the College forward."
Dr. Berry holds the Entergy Endowed Professor
of Computer Information Systems, has published over 40 refereed
articles, and has served as the founding editor of the Journal
of Internet Commerce. He has successfully attracted over
$750,000 in grant funds, which were used to enhance the technological
infrastructure of the college, provide professional development
opportunities for its faculty, and conduct research.
Berry's appointment is pending approval from the University of
Louisiana System Board of Supervisors.
