Reception Held in Honor of ULM Graduates
A reception will be held by the Strategies Targeting African American Retention and Transition (STAART) organization in honor of the first African American graduates of ULM, Sarah McCoy Abakwue and Dr. Donald W. Smith. It will be held on April 1 in the University Conference Center on the 7th floor of the ULM Library at 6:30 p.m.
At this reception, the inaugural McCoy/Smith STAART to FINISH award will be given out. Students and other guests will have the opportunity to speak with McCoy-Abakwue and Smith on the importance of perseverance and tenacity in the pursuit of education.
