Fine Arts Festival Fridays at ULM

The ULM School of Visual and Performing Arts in conjunction with the Chautauqua Nexus will present a series of informal arts events at noon on Fridays beginning March 5 and continuing throughout the semester. The events will take place around the fountain in front of the library in Scott Plaza. Students, faculty, staff and the general public are invited to bring a lunch or just stop by. All events are free and open to the public.

The first event, this Friday from noon-2 p.m. features art faculty and students as well as jazz musicians from the Division of Music. The event is called "Painting in the Round." Jerry Lyles from the art faculty, and organizer of the event comments, "Rhythm, improvisation and time; all elements shared by jazz and action painting. Five visual artists backed up by jazz musicians will execute a time based performance painting."
