ULM and the Monroe Chamber of Commerce to Host 6th Annual Northeast Louisiana Career Fair
The University of Louisiana Monroe, in conjunction with the Monroe Chamber of Commerce, will host the 6th annual Northeast Louisiana Career Fair, September 13-15 at Fant Ewing Coliseum on the ULM campus from 9:30 a.m.- 12 noon.
Representatives from over 50 colleges, universities, community colleges and area businesses will be on hand to help students plan for their careers after high school. Approximately 2,800 high school juniors and seniors from northeast Louisiana will be in attendance.
As part of the Career Fair, ULM will host the second annual Parent's Night on Tuesday, September 14 from 6:30 p.m.-8p.m. at Fant-Ewing Coliseum. Parent's Night is designed to help students and their parents with the college-planning process through providing general information about admission requirements, core curriculum requirements, dates, deadlines and timelines as well as financial aid and scholarships.
"Parent's night provides an opportunity to visit with
representatives from post-secondary institutions so that they
are able to assist their child with what can seem like a very
overwhelming task," said Lisa Miller, Director of Recruitment
and Admissions at ULM.
"The parents in our region are fortunate to have this event
to meet with a variety of representatives on one night, under
one roof."
"I definitely recommend going to Parent's Night if you have a child that will be attending college in the next year or so," said Jonathan Dougherty, a Parent's Night attendee last year. "We really got the individual attention we needed to answer questions about things like admissions and financial aid."
