ULM Faculty and Students Construct Model Airplane
Faculty and students from the University of Louisiana at Monroe will be working together to construct a large scale model aircraft. Paul Karlowitz, Interim Head of the Aviation Department, is heading up the project. The purpose of the project is to get faculty and students working together and to educate students on basic aerodynamics, design and construction of airplanes. The model will be a Douglas DC-3 aircraft like those flown by Delta years ago. It will be approximately 12 feet wide and 9 feet long. Once completed, the airplane will be put on display in the department's new Aviation Museum Currently on display in the museum is a J-34 turbo jet engine out of an old navy fighter plane. The project, which should begin by the end of July, is open to all ULM students. Contact Paul Karlowitz at 342-1780 to get involved.
