Bry Art Gallery at ULM Showing Exhibition by ULM Alum Christina Gray
The Bry Art Gallery at the University of Louisiana at Monroe
is currently showing a one-person exhibition of paintings by
Christina Gray of Monroe. Gray received a bachelor of fine arts
in painting from ULM in 1998 and a master of fine arts from
Louisiana Tech in 2001.
The ULM Department of Art offers former graduates an opportunity
to reprise their thesis exhibition in the Bry Art Gallery.
Gray's exhibition is a selection of works showing oil paintings
on Arches and other papers, as well as paintings on canvas. Her
imagery falls into two basic categories: a juxtaposition of human
figures in landscape settings where emphasis shifts from
image category to image category and is punctuated by the balancing
of contrastive complementary colors, plus a series of studies
of plants, fruits and vegetables which are presented ins somber
colors and from unusual points of view.
This 16 piece exhibition will be on view through September 19.
At. 2 p.m. on closing day, Gray will present a gallery talk to
ULM students.
The Bry Art Gallery is open to the public free of charge from
8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on weekdays.
