ULM to hold 28th annual holiday Madrigal Feaste
The Holiday Madrigal Feaste at the University of Louisiana at Monroe is a grand tradition of Elizabethan England. The Feaste, a twenty-eight year old tradition in ULM, is scheduled for Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, November 21, 22, and 23, 2002 in Brown Gym. Seating will be at 5:30 p.m. with dinner at 6:00 p.m.
The Galliard Brass usher in the guests with festive music played from the balcony. Brass fanfares introduce the different courses of the Feaste; a recorder consort plays Courtly music of the Renaissance.
After the meal, guests will hear holiday music. The ULM Chamber Singers will perform music appropriate to Thanksgiving and Christmas, as well as traditional Madrigal music. The entire evening is held in a castle setting complete with candles, glittering costumes and symbolic greenery.
The ULM School of Music and Auxiliary Enterprises collaborate to produce the Feaste. Tickets are $25 and everyone is invited.
For ticket information, call the School of Music at 342-1570. After 4:30 p.m., call 342-1569 to leave a message.
Each performance evening several locations will be reserved as scholarship benefit tables. The ticket price for these seats is $40 per person with $15 of the amount going toward scholarships for ULM students involved in the madrigal dinners.
