"Reclaiming Our Campus" Gets A "Boost" From Athletics
With only five more Saturdays before the start of the fall semester, there is still enough time for significant change on the campus of The University of Louisiana at Monroe. The on going "Reclaiming our Campus" efforts are getting help this Saturday, July 20th, from the Athletic Boosters. They will be painting at Malone Stadium, while other work will continue at Sherrouse and Hudson Halls.
Football players and other ULM athletes are also slated to help at Malone Stadium. More than 100 athletes, coaches, athletic department personnel and boosters are expected to take part in the effort which will include power washing the grandstand area, landscaping and the painting of the field wall, lockerrooms, chairbacks and other areas.
Dr. Eric Pani, Chair of the Implementation Committee for "Reclaiming our Campus" said that another big day ahead for the clean up efforts will be the July 27 Alumni Day when University alumni, including those from athletics, will be asked to take part in the efforts.
Dr. Eric Pani, who heads up "Reclaiming our Campus" said, "Last weekend's turnout was the most numerous group of volunteers so far this summer. Between 50 and 60 people were on hand to paint the lobbies of Slater and Ouachita Halls, paint the third floor and stairwells of Ouachita Hall, and do landscaping work around Garrett and Bry Halls."
"The work was completed with the help of the Garrett Family, the West Monroe/West Ouachita Chamber of Commerce, others from West Monroe, and ULM employees," said Pani.
If you or your organization would like to help this Saturday or any time through the summer please call 342-1750. Each Saturday's work we will start at 7:30 a.m. and will quit around 11:00 a.m.
