Outstanding educators and educational programs in our community to be honored

The annual CenturyTel Accent on Excellence Breakfast was held this morning, Wednesday, Dec. 5, 2001 at the Monroe Civic Center Conference Hall from 7:30 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. Accent on Excellence is an annual event held to honor outstanding educators and educational programs at Monroe City and Ouachita Parish Schools and at the University of Louisiana at Monroe.

In addition to recognizing the Teacher of the Year, Accent on Excellence honors teachers who design innovative programs that encourage students to apply their classroom learning to real-world experience. One program from ULM, one from Ouachita Parish and one from Monroe City will be highlighted at this year's breakfast.

Seven outstanding professors from ULM will also be honored. They are: Dr. Judy Fellows, the College of Allied Health and Rehabilitation Professions; Dr. Jerry Wall, the College of Business Administration, Dr. Glenda Rakes, the College of Education and Human Development; Dr. Christopher A. Blackburn, the College of Liberal Arts; Dr. Margaret R. Edwards, the College of Nursing; Dr. James Christopher Lynch, the College of Pharmacy; and Dr. Michael A. Camille, the College of Pure and Applied Science.
