33rd Business Honors Banquet
The College of Business Administration at the University of Louisiana at Monroe held its 33rd Annual Honors Banquet at the end of the Spring semester in the Conference Center of the ULM Library to present the College and departmental awards to the following students.
Mulham Orfaly, Computer Information Systems major from Monroe, received the College of Business Administration Distinguished Graduate Award and Outstanding Graduate in Computer Information Systems Support.
Lana R. Robertson, Marketing major from Oak Grove, received the College of Business Administration Dean's Award; Outstanding Graduate in Marketing; Pi Sigma Epsilon Outstanding Student Award for Spring 2001; National Association of Purchasing Managers, Lou-Ark Chapter Scholarship; and was pinned by Mu Kappa Tau, National Marketing Honor Society.
Laurie L. Williams, Computer Information Systems major from Monroe, received the The Wall Street Journal Student Achievement Award; Outstanding Graduate in Computer Information Systems Development; and Betta Gamma Sigma Outstanding Senior Award.
Other nominees for the College of Business Administration Outstanding Student awards were Rebekah C. Branch, Management major from Rayville; Aimee M. Cooper, Accounting major from West Monroe; Wesley R. Gibson, Finance major from Rayville; Shanna K. Kuhn, Accounting major from Winnfield; Crystal M. Martin, General Business/Spanish major from West Monroe; Christy H. Renaud. Management major from Zachary; Katie R. Schultz, Accounting major from Vicksburg. Miss.; Barbara A. Silman, Finance major from Bossier City; and Lynn Wiggers, Computer Information Systems major from Winnsboro.
Departmental award winners were:
Shanna K. Kuhn of Winnfield, was named Outstanding Graduate in Accounting;
Deborah H. Kirby, Accounting major from West Monroe, received the Harry M. Bell Memorial Scholarship Award;
Sara E. Price, Winnsboro, and Ashley L. Smith, Tallulah, received the Society of Louisiana Certified Public Accountants Education Foundation Scholarship Awards;
Kristy L. Turnbow, Accounting major from Calhoun, received the Institute of Management Accountants, Shreveport Chapter, Outstanding Accounting Senior Award;
Lynn Wiggers, Computer Information Systems major from Winnsboro, received the Association of Information Technology Professionals Outstanding Student Award;
Juan Guerra, Economics/Finance major from Monroe, was named Outstanding Graduate in Economics;
Barbara A. Silman, Finance major from Bossier City, was named Outstanding Graduate in Finance;
Crystal M. Martin, General Business major from West Monroe, was named Outstanding Graduate in General Business;
Sandra Watson, Insurance/Real Estate major from Rayville, was named Outstanding Graduate in Insurance;
Linda V. Macheras, Insurance/Real Estate major from Monro, received the Bill Sanders Outstanding Insurance Student Award;
Rebekah C. Branch, Management major from Rayville, was named Outstanding Graduate in Management;
Pi Sigma Epsilon Outstanding Student Awards went to Gary D. Merchant, Computer Information Systems major from West Monroe, Fall 2000; and Carlos V. Davis, Computer Information Systems major from Shreveport, Spring 2001.
National Association of Purchasing Managers, Lou-Ark Chapter Scholarship was presented to Doll Ann Adams, a Marketing major from Monroe.
Beta Gamma Sigma, the national honorary fraternity for collegiate business students, selected its outstanding students as well. The Kitty DeGree/Beta Gamma Sigma Outstanding Junior Scholarship was awarded to Jodie L. Sellers, Finance major from West Monroe; the Beta Gamma Sigma Outstanding MBA Graduate award was presented to Jianzhong Zhang, Monroe. Named as Chapter Honorees were William B. Nelson, Jr., Nelson Lumber Company, West Monroe, and William D. Sawyer Jr., Sawyer Industrial Plastics, Inc., West Monroe.
Brandyn C. LeBoeuf, Accounting major from Houma, received the Institute of Internal Auditors Outstanding Student Award.
Master of Business Administration Outstanding Graduate Awards were presented to Weiyuan Sun of Monroe, Summer 2000; Julie M. Wilkinson of Monroe, Fall 2000; and Wan Lung Mow of Monroe, Spring 2001.
Dr. John P. Baker, Louisiana Small Business Development Center; Dr. Leo R. Cheatham, Economics and Finance; Dr. O. Jeff Harris, Management and Marketing; Mrs. Gloria H. Honeycutt, Management and Marketing; and Mr. Tom R. Lee, Economics and Finance, were recognized as retiring faculty and staff.
