Fall enrollment numbers announced at ULM
The University of Louisiana at Monroe announced its fall enrollment figures Thursday afternoon. For the 2000 fall semester 9,369 students are enrolled for classes.
The new numbers represent a 5.8 percent drop over fall 1999, but were not unexpected. ULM is moving towards selective admissions and has seen the quality of its students improve, even as enrollment figures drop slightly.
"We continue to enroll higher quality students and fewer remedial students," ULM Interim Provost and Vice President of Academic Affairs Dr. Thomas Rakes said. "This fall we have seen a 7.4 percent increase in the number of TOPs recipients we had over last fall. Our graduation rates continue to increase. And we will continue with our initiatives to develop partnerships with businesses and our consortium partnerships to strengthen our numbers of non-traditional students."
