Hoffman presented "Golden Arrow" award

Susan Hoffmann, who has spent more than two decades actively supporting the University of Louisiana at Monroe and serving as a member of many civic organizations in the twin cities, was presented the Golden Arrow Award Thursday night at the ULM Alumni Awards Banquet at the University Conference Center.

The Golden Arrow Award is the highest honor bestowed upon an ULM alumni for outstanding personal and professional achievement. The late Henry A. Little won last year's award posthumously.

Hoffmann, who earned a BBA and MBA from ULM, has made her mark professionally at what is now Bank One. Beginning her career as a part-time teller, Hoffmann has risen to First Vice President, the bank's second-highest office.

In the community, Hoffmann is a Past Chairman of the West Monroe/West Ouachita Board of Directors, Vice President on the United Way Board of Directors and has served on City of Monroe Mayor Melvin Rambin's Mayor's Commission.

For ULM, Hoffmann is a Life member of the ULM Alumni Association, an Associate level member of the ULM Annual Fund and previously served on the Annual Fund Committee, and as an active member of the ULM Athletic Scholarship Foundation.

Valerie Fields, ULM's Director of Student Development, was awarded the ULM Service Award. The recipient of the ULM Service Award is recognized for: outstanding service to the University, service to organizations which improve the economic well-being of the community, individuals or University, involvement in activities which raise the socio-economic, cultural, or social stature of members of the community and involvement that raises the quality of life for individuals and the community.

Fields is a past or current member of the Louisiana Association of College University Student Personnel Administrators, National Interfraternity Conference, National Pan-Hellenic Council, Northeast Louisiana Alliance of Black School Educators and the Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development, among others.

The Dallas/Fort Worth Chapter of the ULM Alumni Association was presented the Alumni Chapter of the Year Award. The Alumni Association currently recognizes 32 regional chapters located primarily in the Southeastern United States, two international chapters and 11 academic chapters.
