ULM pharmacy students receive national awards
Jennifer Cain, a second-year Doctor of Pharmacy student at the University of Louisiana at Monroe, has received one of 12 Merck Research Scholar Program awards conferred nationally for 2000-2001.
ULM's College of Pharmacy will receive financial support for Cain's research project, "Vitamin E Inhibition of Protein Kinase C Activation in Breast Cancer Cells" with Dr. Paul Sylvester. Cain will travel to Toronto, Canada, to present her research results at the July 2001 AACP Annual Meeting.
Another second-year ULM Doctor of Pharmacy student, LeAnn Sturdivant, is one of 12 recipients of the 2001 Gateway Research Scholarship. The College of Pharmacy will receive financial support for her research project, "Vitamin E Activation of Apoptosis in Breast Cancer Cells" with Dr. Paul Sylvester.
