ULM Preparing to Kick Off Annual Campaign

Since the inception of the Annual Fund in 1994 at the University of Louisiana at Monroe, it has provided 75 percent of the private dollars invested in the advancement of academics at ULM.

The Annual Fund advances learning by funding scholarships; strengthens teaching by funding technological support and professional development; and fosters research and creativity by funding grant proposals and projects.

Now about to begin its sixth campaign, the ULM Annual Fund is expanding its Development Grants Program into year-round funding, beginning with Fiscal Year 2000-2001. The purpose of the Grants Program is to fund strategic projects that advance learning, strengthen teaching, foster research and creative endeavors, and improve the ability of the University to serve its constituents.

This new approach will allow Associates, contributors to the Annual Fund, to earmark their donation for a particular grant. This new approach to supporting faculty and staff projects parallels the year-round operation of the University's Annual Fund for academics. Proposals submitted in the spring will be reviewed and ranked by relevant committees, as has been the practice for the three-year history of the Development Grants program. The Advancement Division's professional staff and volunteers then will attempt to match proposals with likely donors.
