MONROE, LA – The University of Louisiana at Monroe invites the campus and community to join a reading and discussion program titled Who Gets to Vote?
This program fosters conversations about US voting history and voter suppression. It explores how voting rights’ history intersects with the present. The Louisiana Endowment for the Humanities selected ULM as one of six geographically diverse sites to receive a grant to participate in their program.
“We are very honored to be awarded this grant from the Louisiana Endowment for the Humanities and to be able to bring this important conversation to northeast Louisiana,” said Dr. Leigh Hersey, ULM assistant professor of political science.
The discussions are free and open to the public at ULM’s Library, Room 458. Beginning in July, attendees will discuss a new book each month through October. Everyone is welcome to participate, even those who have not read the selected book.
