MONROE, LA – Several French horn students in the ULM School of Visual and Performing Arts recently traveled to Kingsville, Texas to perform at the 54th International Horn Symposium, held on the campus of Texas A&M University Kingsville, August 1-6, 2022.
Students Jeremi Jenkins, Daniel Kennedy, Jackson Lair, Kaden McDermott, Christopher Perdue, and Katherine Phillips attended with Professor of Music, James Boldin, DMA. The students, all members of the Sound of Today Marching Band, the ULM Horn Ensemble, and several other on-campus musical groups, were invited to perform at the symposium on a concert with other ensembles from Florida State University and Illinois State University.
Boldin says, “The International Horn Symposium is the annual meeting of the International Horn Society, and brings together hundreds of students, professional musicians, university faculty, and other educators for a week of performances, master classes, and presentations dedicated to the French horn. This year’s symposium was the first to be held in-person since 2019 and was the first international symposium these students have attended. We are extremely grateful to ULM and the ULM Foundation for making this opportunity possible.”
