MONROE, LA – The spirit of the Warhawk and the spirit of the season come together Monday, November
28, for Holidays at the University of Louisiana Monroe.
The public is invited to Scott Plaza, next to the ULM Library, for the annual tree-lighting
celebration, and photo op with Santa and Ace beginning at 5:30 p.m. There will be
activities, giveaway items, and treats presented by various student organizations.
The gathering at Scott Plaza will be emceed by newly crowned Mr. ULM 2023, Colby Pogue,
and Miss ULM Outstanding Teen 2023, Geneviève Wetzel. Campus Activities Board President
Carlos Moses will welcome the crowd and be joined by President Ron Berry for the countdown
to lighting the tree.
President Berry said the lights on campus are symbolic of the power inside everyone
to be a catalyst for change and positivity.
“As we begin the holiday season by lighting our tree and campus, let us all be the
light in someone else’s lives,” Berry said. “Let us be the goodness, the inspiration,
or the hope of days to come where possibilities become opportunities fully realized.
As we brighten our campus lights, let them serve as a sign of welcome, a sign of better
things to come, and a sign of celebration of the transformative process we live each
and every day at ULM.”
Attendees can enjoy food and drink with a bake sale by XTE Dance Honor Society and
a hot chocolate fundraiser by the Ambitious Women Society. Attendees can also register
to win a candle and travel mug in a giveaway sponsored by the Campus Activities Board.
This event is free and open to the public. No registration is needed.
