ULM to close Thursday, August 27 due to Hurricane Laura

Published Aug. 26, 2020

The University of Louisiana Monroe will be closed Thursday, Aug. 27, 2020 as Hurricane Laura is expected to impact northeast Louisiana with high winds, heavy rains, and the possibility of tornadoes.

All offices will be closed and all classes, including those online and Hybrid/Hyflex, are canceled. The University Library will be closed.

The SUB, Starbucks, and the PODS will be closed. Schulze dining hall will remain open and will operate on a weekend schedule (Brunch 11am-2pm, Pizza/salads 2pm-4pm, and Dinner 4pm-7pm).

The university will return to regular operating hours on Friday, Aug. 28.

Students are asked to shelter in place. In the case of an emergency, our contingency plan is to have the Activity Center serve as a temporary emergency facility for ULM students, if needed. The campus community must continue wearing masks, washing hands, and practicing social distancing.

ULM students, faculty, and staff are reminded to use caution while traveling. Do not drive into high water or across downed power lines.

ULM will issue statements on the ULM Safe app (download at App Store and Google Play), campuswide email, ulm.edu and ULM Facebook, Twitter @ulm_official, and Instagram @ulmonroe. Stay informed at 90.3 KEDM , Facebook/National Weather Service Shreveport, and Twitter @NWSShreveport.

For emergencies on campus, use the ULM Safe app to contact the University Police Department or call 318-342-5350 or dial 911.
