Health Studies faculty member Kim Theodos appointed to AHIMA Board of Directors
Kim Theodos, assistant professor of Health Studies at the University of Louisiana
Monroe, was elected to the board of directors for the American Health Information
Management Association for a three-year term. With more than 100,000 members both
national and international, AHIMA is recognized as the leading source of HIM knowledge
and as a respected authority for rigorous professional education and training. The
AHIMA Board is responsible for setting long-term strategy and direction, governing
the association’s activities, and fulfilling the organizations fiduciary responsibility.
As part of her board duties, Theodos will provide strategic guidance on information
governance, informatics/analytics and preparation for emerging HIM roles.
Theodos teaches Healthcare Informatics, Healthcare Leadership and Healthcare Administration
in the Health Studies Program. She also serves as the program practicum coordinator
and adviser for undergraduate health studies students.
“Serving on the AHIMA Board of Directors is an amazing opportunity and responsibility
and I am honored to serve,” said Theodos. “The guiding principles throughout my service
will be member communication, AHIMA strategy and leadership development. These core
values will drive our association at this critical juncture in our profession. I am

Dr. Jessica Dolecheck, program coordinator for Health Studies, stated that “Ms. Theodos’
newly elected position for AHIMA is a prestigious appointment that will certainly
benefit the Health Studies Program regarding innovative curriculum design and future
student/faculty opportunities.”
Theodos was named both Distinguished Member and Outstanding Volunteer for the Louisiana
Health Information Management Association.
