MONROE, La. — Trio Mélange, a faculty ensemble in the School of Visual and Performing Arts, will perform at the 48th International Horn Symposium, June 13-18 on the campus of Ithaca College in Ithaca, New York.

Ensemble members are Dr. James Boldin, Associate Professor of Music, Dr. Richard Seiler, Professor of Music, and Dr. Claire Vangelisti, Associate Professor of Music.

The trio was formed in 2013, and is dedicated to promoting and performing new music for soprano, horn, and piano. The group has performed previously at the 45th International Horn Symposium, and has also given guest recitals and master classes at Centenary College of Louisiana, Stephen F. Austin State University, and the University of Texas at Tyler.

The trio will perform To the Seasons, a composition by Dr. Gina Gillie, Associate Professor of Music at Pacific Lutheran University. The piece is a musical setting of four texts by English poet William Blake, with each movement corresponding to one of the four seasons.

“The theme of this year’s International Horn Symposium is The Natural Beauty of the Horn, and Dr. Gillie’s composition fits in beautifully with that theme," said Boldin. "We are excited to represent our university, and to share this contemporary work with an international audience.”

The International Horn Symposium is the annual conference of the International Horn Society, and draws hundreds of participants from around the world.
