MONROE, La. — The University of Louisiana Monroe fraternity Pi Kappa Alpha was presented the
Community Service Award by the Monroe / West Monroe Convention and Visitor’s Bureau
during its May 5th luncheon.
The group was recognized for such projects as the Christmas light display, Mardi Gras
Parade, and Louisiana Wildlife and Fisheries Day. Members collectively donated over
5300 hours to local organizations for the 2015-16 academic year.
“Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity answers the bell in our community when there is a need
for volunteers and community service,” said Alana Cooper, President/CEO of Monroe/West
Monroe Convention and Visitor’s Bureau.
Louisiana Lt. Governor Billy Nungesser presented the community service award to Josh
Usie, Pi Kappa Alpha’s Vice President.
“Pi Kappa Alpha is dedicated to developing men of integrity, intellect, and high moral
character and to fostering a truly lifelong fraternal experience,” according the fraternity’s
