Their work, a multimedia piece titled “Love and Violence in America 2014,” was the second multimedia performance partnership between the two. Mullone and Mobley created “Babel,” earlier this year.
“Dr. Mobley and I collaborated back in the spring with the premier of ‘Babel,’ another multimedia work involving the dance and music students with video and original compositions,” Mullone said.
For a piece such as “Love and Violence in America 2014,” Mullone said the work benefitted from a national audience. “We felt the need to present a work on the professional stage,” she said.
The two chose a popular Fort Worth museum for their performance. “I suggested the Modern Art Museum not only for its unique dancing space, but also as a great opportunity to perform in a nationally recognized museum,” Mullone said.
Mullone and Mobley will bring the renowned performance to Monroe for ULM’s annual Fall Dance Fusion, on Friday, Nov. 21, in Brown Auditorium. The concert is held annually and marks one of VAPA’s signature events.
“I am very excited to see these types of interdisciplinary collaborations from our VAPA faculty,” said Dr. Derle Long, VAPA director. “Ms. Mullone and Dr. Mobley have worked together on other projects, and their artistry and creativity is truly astonishing. We look forward to many more performances from this talented duo.”
Mobley holds a D.M.A. from the University of Illinois, an M.M. from the University of South Florida, and a B.A. from the University of Texas at Austin.
Mullone received a bachelor’s degree from the University of Oklahoma and a graduate
degree from Texas Christian University.
