Phillip Ellis of Bernice—a 2009 University of Louisiana at Monroe criminal justice
graduate—recently received the Frisby Griffing Marble Scholarship award from the Mississippi
College School of Law during its annual Law Day ceremony.
The award is given annually to second and third year law students in the top one-third
of the class who show potential for outstanding service to the legal profession.
Ellis is the son of Mike Ellis and Jerri Harlow Strahan. He is married to Lauren Lee
Ellis.

The Mississippi College School of Law’s origins extend to the Jackson School of Law,
which was acquired by Mississippi College in 1975.
