In the book chapter titled “Twitter in Higher Education: New Pedagogy in the Knowledge Era of Globalization,” Bista presents existing literature on social media, and debates on the usage of Twitter in higher education as a learning pedagogy.
According to Bista, Twitter provides space and beneficial opportunities for students
and faculty to engage in social and academic activities as a new pedagogical tool.
The chapter appeared in the book titled “Emerging Pedagogies in the Networked Knowledge
Society,” published by IGI Global.
In the research article, “Cohort-based doctoral programs: What we have learned over
the last 18 years?” Bista and his co-author David W. Cox examined student reflections
pertaining to a cohort model doctoral program in educational leadership.
Bista says, “In a cohort model program, students work through a program sequence—all
classes and phases of the program—together to achieve the same academic degree.” This
article appears in the International Journal of Doctoral Studies, a peer-reviewed
academic publication.
Bista and Shane Silpe, a ULM graduate student, also published a book review in the
Journal of Multidisciplinary Evaluation, a peer-reviewed journal in higher education.
Bista and Silpe critically reviewed the book “Successful School Leadership,” and have suggested this resource for individuals who are either seeking a leadership role, or are currently practicing in the educational setting.
